EVA Air Expands Fleet with order for four more B787-10 Aircraft

EVA Air Orders Four More B787-10 Aircraft

Taiwan’s EVA Air (BR, Taipei Taoyuan) confirmed in a regulatory filing on May 10 that it has ordered four more B787-10 aircraft. This decision aligns with the airline’s operational requirements.

Currently, EVA Air operates 11 B787-10s and has two more on order. However, this is just the beginning. With the recent order, the airline’s B787-10 fleet is set to grow significantly to 17 aircraft, with deliveries expected in 2029. This expansion is part of Boeing’s current backlog, which includes a total of 170 B787-10s.

In addition to the B787-10s, EVA Air also flies four B787-9s. Once all its B787 orders are fulfilled, the airline will have 30 B787s in its fleet. EVA Air’s initial order for B787-10s in 2014 included 24 aircraft (18 firm orders and six options). However, in 2020, some of these were converted to other aircraft types.

“EVA Air is committed to steadily increasing its operational capacity and renewing its fleet to maintain market competitiveness,” a spokesperson for the airline told ch-aviation. “We have 44 passenger aircraft on order, which will be delivered gradually. This includes two B787-10s, nine B787-9s, eighteen A350-1000s, and fifteen A321-200N. Additionally, our four leased A330-300 aircraft will be returned when the lease expires in 2029, prompting the decision to purchase four more B787-10 aircraft.”

As a testament to its diverse operational capabilities, EVA Air’s current fleet is a mix of various aircraft types. It includes eighteen A321-200s, three A330-200s, nine A330-300s, one ACJ318-100, one ACJ319-100, thirty-four B777-300ERs, and nine B777-200Fs. This diverse fleet enables the airline to serve 57 airports across 22 countries, catering to a wide range of passenger and cargo needs.
